In reply to your letter of the 4th instant, announcing your intention to accept a reduced pension and leave Hong Kong, I am directed to inform you that the Officer Administering the Government allows you till the 31st December, 1898, for the settling up of your affairs. The pension which has accumulated since the date of your dismissal will be paid to you here in dollars on the eve of your departure from the Colony.

Your passage to England will not be paid, nor will your first-class good conduct medal be returned to you.

The usual departmental certificate of service is enclosed.
